Fed-o-ween & first time racing 6S!

Close up of racing drone flying

This past weekend we had a fun fly at the house of Fedable, another of our friends from Safety Third Racing. We also had just converted my 5-inch quads to 6-cell batteries two days before. My quads were now 60 grams heavier. I was nervous to see if I would be able to adapt quickly.

This was one of my first events recently where I could try to really rip it with a bunch of pilots. I was excited to see if all the time I had been putting in on the sim would pay off.

Fedable had an incredibly cool course laid out that went through his woods. Unfortunately us racing pilots were a bit skittish to fly through it. We flew a few packs there, and even added more tape to mark the course. Unfortunately the video signal wasn’t very clear, and I have no DVR to show that portion! We ultimately did not include the woods in our racing track.

We were focusing on fastest lap, so my strategy was to start out a little bit slower and try to get faster every lap.

Eventually I had the fastest lap and fastest 3 consecutive! JimmyProton got close to my fastest lap time, but couldn’t quite catch me. He laid down a new best time for fastest 3 consecutive laps, though. I’ll take second fastest 3 consecutive.

But the best part was getting to talk with pilots who were interested in the sport! We had several guys for whom this was their first race. We had another pilot who told me he was trying to get his wife to fly, and I was able to give him some advice. And the pilot I was sharing my channel with was improving incredibly fast.

Thanks Fedable for hosting an amazing event! It felt great to be able to really rip it.
