MultiGP Global Championship!

I got the news today that I’m invited to compete in the RDQ 2019 MultiGP Championship sports class! I am incredibly excited to have this opportunity.
The top 200-300 pilots in regional qualifiers were first invited. I unfortunately did not make the cutoff, but other pilots could not travel to Daytona Beach, Florida.
I am incredibly fortunate to be traveling with three other members of Safety Third Racing: Smitty, Reap3r, and JimmyProton. All of them have been instrumental in my improvement! I could not be happier that the four of us will get to go together.
As far as I can tell, I will be one of only three women to compete in the sports class, while one woman will compete in the pro class.
I only know of a few women who competed. There are also other very fast women who race FPV, but who did not do the MultiGP qualifier. Here are the women I know of who competed in the qualifier (if I missed anyone, please let me know!):
- Rotorgrl
- JuneBug
- PrettyFlyFPV
- Roo
- MakoReactra
- MaiOnHigh
- UnicornPrincess
- Maddi_Hatter_FPV
- PinkPrincess
That means out of over 1,100 pilots total, I only know of 9 women who competed in the MultiGP Qualifier – or 0.008% of the participants.
I was fairly disappointed in my qualifying time for regionals. My best official time was 1:08.307, although I got a 1:06 in practice. But to be honest, I didn’t earn a better time. I didn’t practice the track in the sim, and we didn’t set up the course at our practice fields.
When I look back at my best qualifying run, I can see so many things I would change! I have stepped up my practice BIG TIME since then. I’m currently practicing 15-20 hours a week between the sim and real tracks. I am very excited to see whether all that practice will pay off in Daytona.
RotorGrl, Roo, MakoReactra and JuneBug compete in the 2019 U.S. FAI qualifier race, with Kelara as support!
But I also can’t wait to see the other female pilots. I almost never get to race with another woman – I’m the only one I know of in Pennsylvania right now – so going to a large event like this is a great opportunity to get to see old friends. But I’m also competitive; I want to see if I’ve improved in comparison with the other girls as well!
